Register Not Charging Tax

    • If no tax rate is set, the register cannot apply tax to any sale
  2. Make sure the tax rate is assigned to a department
    • Tax is NOT applied automatically
    • Each department must be linked to a tax rate
    • This is the most common cause of this issue
  3. Verify the correct department is being used during sales
    • If an item is entered under a non-taxable department, no tax will be added
  4. For DX Registers:
    • Tax must be programmed using the Tax Shift function
    • After setting the rate, it must be assigned to a department using a department key
  5. For Alpha Registers:
    • Tax and department settings are configured through the programming menu
    • Confirm the department being used is set as taxable in system settings
  6. Check for recent resets or programming changes
    • Power loss or resets may clear tax settings
