- Confirm a tax rate has been programmed
• If no tax rate is set, the register cannot apply tax to any sale - Make sure the tax rate is assigned to a department
• Tax is NOT applied automatically
• Each department must be linked to a tax rate
• This is the most common cause of this issue - Verify the correct department is being used during sales
• If an item is entered under a non-taxable department, no tax will be added - For DX Registers:
• Tax must be programmed using the Tax Shift function
• After setting the rate, it must be assigned to a department using a department key - For Alpha Registers:
• Tax and department settings are configured through the programming menu
• Confirm the department being used is set as taxable in system settings - Check for recent resets or programming changes
• Power loss or resets may clear tax settings
