Quick Answer:
If your register shows a “Journal Full”, “GT Lock”, or memory-related warning, it means the system has reached its storage limit and requires a report or reset to clear stored data.
Steps to Check:
- Print a report to clear stored data
• Most models require printing a Z report (end-of-day report)
• This clears the journal memory and allows normal operation - Make sure the mode switch is in the correct position
• Turn the key to the “Z” or “Report” position (varies by model)
• Then run the report - Confirm paper is installed before running reports
• The register will NOT print or clear memory without paper
• This is a very common issue - Understanding what “GT Lock” means
• GT (Grand Total) tracking has reached its limit
• A reset or report is required before continuing - For DX Registers:
• Use the mode switch to slide to Z
• Run the appropriate financial report - For Alpha Registers:
• Access reporting through the menu or key position
• Select and run a Z report - Check if the register has been used without running reports regularly
• Memory builds up over time if reports are not run
• This will eventually trigger the warning - Restart the register after completing the report
• Confirms the issue has been cleared
If the message continues after running reports, additional programming or a system reset may be required.
